How Could She

- But what they didn't realize was, that they fed a beast inside Raven that one day would make them wish they never agreed with her. -

One day - it seemed like all the days before - the beast in Raven took over. Like always all the horses had their fun with the little mare teasing and joking over her behavior. All but one. Aenigma had no interest in talking to the foal. The introverted horse was never a great talker to begin with. So her not talking to Raven was nothing special or unusual. But that day Raven had enough. She was the princess of the herd and she deserved respect for that. Aenigma was only a half sister of her father, with no right to be an alpha. So she followed her aunt and when they were alone in the stables, while everyone else was outside she attacked her.
Aenigma was laying in her stall looking up to her young niece, not saying anything. She closed her eyes and wanted to sleep for a while, when Raven kicked her in the face. Before the mare could stand up the foal jumped at her throat bitting her as hard as she could. Raven wanted to kill the unworthy desert mare that had the guts to ignore her time after time. That was the first time anyone ever heard the voice of Aenigma. And it was a scream for mercy. In an instant Nox ran into the stables and found his daughter leaning over his halfsister and kicking her repeatedly while screaming at her with hatred. The stallion was in shock and jumped next to her, trying to push her away from her aunt. But Raven was in a rage screaming like the devil himself possessed her. Nox didn't know what to do and in an attemped to get her away he bit her in the ear and pulled. First Raven did't even notice and pulled against him with all her strength. Then it happend: Nox bit too hard and the ear of Raven was torn apart. The pain was overwhelming but the shock over the action of her father was even bigger. The young mare looked up to him in shock unable to move. Nox spit out the piece of her ear breathing hardly. He could not believe what happend. He could not understand why his princess, his little loved daughter, the apple of his eye would do such a horrifying thing. Before he knew what he did he stepped forward, between Raven and Aenigma. He gave his half sister a glance and the smell of blood came to his nose. "Get out." He muttered. Raven looked up at him tears in her eyes. "It.. it was her fault!" She tried to defend herself but Nox didn't listen. "No more! Go! I don't want to see you anymore!" He said with growing rage. The foal stepped back in fear, but still tried to defend her point. "I am the princess. I deserve..." But Nox jumped right infront of her showing his teeth and growling. "GET OUT!" He screamed. That was enough. Raven ran as fast as she could, ignoring the other horses that came to see what had happend, leaving a trace of blood behind her.

The other horses of the stable came closer to Nox but no one dared to say something. Noone had ever seen him that angry before. It was Noctifera, Nox's mother who walked over to him, to ask him what happend. But when she stepped next to him she could see into the stall where Aenigma was still laying in her own blood. "No. Aenigma." She whispered. Instantly Vaccula ran up to her and looked for herself. "No! No! Aenigma! What happend?" The mare walked up to her daughter and layed next to her. "Please! Please! Don't die!" She begged and looked up to Nox in rage. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?" She screamed of the top of her lungs. Nox didn't know what to say and just stared at the bleeding mare. "DO SOMETHING! HELP HER!" Vaccula demanded in her panic. But there was nothing any of the horses could do. Luckily Archimedes - the owner of the stables - came by, attracted from the noise. "What..?" But when he saw the blood he fell silent and fetched some bandages. As fast as possible he stopped Aenigma's bleeding and vet her. Vaccula didn't leave her site and Nox looked in silence still not able to believe what happend. When Archimedes was finished he petted the wounded mare softly over the nose. "Don't worry. You will be fine." He muttered with a soft and comforting voice. Then he raised his head looking up to Nox. "What happend?" He asked carefully. But the stallion just stared at Aenigma and the bandages on her neck. Instead Noctifera came closer to the man and looked down to Aenigma. "Raven and Aenigma had a fight. We were all outside, so we could not see what actualy happend. But when we arrived it was already to late." She answered and looked to her son with pity. "Where is Raven now?" Archimedes asked but noone knew. Suddently Nox snaped out of his shock and ran away, past the herd and out of the stables. "Raven.... RAVEN?" He screamed in panic. But he realised way too late, that she was gone. She didn't just leave the stable. His daughter left completely scared for life of her father.
